The Association of Salesian Cooperators was founded by St. John Bosco in 1876. It is a
lay association working in the world. This branch of the Salesian Family is dedicated
to the service of the young and the poor.
There
are over 35,000 members worldwide in nearly every country. They can be found in almost any workplace, social
arena, or age group. They are Salesians specifically called to sanctify their own communities, beginning
with their own families and local church. They serve as catechists, lay ministers, youth ministers, teachers,
parents, lawyers... everyday people who are serious about their faith and who strive to preach more by their example
than by words.
